December
6 Dave Russell will take us for a warm up bird walk for the
Christmas Bird Count. Last
year 51 species of birds were seen on the early Dec. trip with many of
those being ducks in mating plumage.
Meet on the southwest side of the new
Wal-Mart parking lot at
7:30 am
to car pool.
January
24 Conservatory
Tour, Miami University Hamilton Campus: Dr.
Richard Munson, the manager of the conservatory, will give us a tour
of this beautiful building with its large collection of exotic plants
and its surrounding gardens of native Ohio Plants.
There is also a tall grass prairie that includes a nature
trail. Dick spoke at
Audubon
Miami
Valley
’s October meeting about his trip to
Manchuria
. For those who would like to car pool or caravan, meet at the old
Oxford Wal-Mart parking lot at
9:30am
or meet at the Conservatory at
10:00am
.

Wolf
Creek
Habitat and Rescue: Come see and
learn about these fiercely loyal, intelligent, playful and cooperative
animals.
Wolf
Creek
started about 10 years ago and only opened to the public the past few
years. Adults may go in an enclosure and interact and take pictures
with the wolves. For more

. On the way home we will
stop at the Dairy Bar in Brookville for something hot to drink and
lunch. Meet at
9:30am
on the west side of the old Oxford Wal-Mart parking lot to carpool.
There is no charge except to go in an enclosure with the
wolves.

Geology Trip: Look for fossils with
Dr. Kendall Hauer, the director of
Miami
’s
Limper
Geology
Museum
. Bring a sack lunch to
eat at the
Brookville
Lake
overlook. For those wishing to continue looking for fossils we will go
to another site in
Indiana
returning about
3:00pm
. Meet at
8:30am
on the west side of the old Oxford Wal-Mart parking lot to carpool or
caravan. Rain date is
March 28.

hike the
Spring Valley
Wildlife Area: We
will be looking for water birds, waders and migrants at this wildlife
area 4 miles north of Waynesville. We will leave from the west side of
the old Oxford Wal-Mart parking lot at
6:30am
. Bring a sack lunch and
binoculars. We plan to be
back in
Oxford
about
2:30
or so.

25 Hike
Kathy Hunter and Ron Huffmeier’s beautiful Indiana farm: We will search for the
neo-tropical jewels passing through this time of year. Meet at
7:30am
on the west side of the old Oxford Wal-Mart parking lot.
May 16
Salt Creek
Nature Sanctuary: Spend
the day with Don and Pat Kaufman on their
Southeastern Indiana
nature sanctuary with its extensive trail system enjoying the spring
weather and inspirational sculptures. For more information about the

Meet at
8:00am

Garden
at
Glenwood
Gardens
in
Cincinnati

Highfield
Discovery
Garden
was designed for children up to 8 years old. There are trails through
Glenwood
Gardens
to hike and you can bring a sack lunch to eat at the bluffs.
There is a charge of $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for children
age 2 and up for the
children’s garden. Meet at
8:45
at the old Oxford Wal-Mart parking lot to carpool or caravan.

for any trip that must be cancelled for any reason will be made on the AMV web
site as soon as it is known. If it
is raining or snowing the morning of a field trip, call the field trip
coordinator (Linda Williams, 513-523-1538) to confirm that the trip will be
held, or to receive alternate instructions.
